Trustees

The Shrewsbury Montessori School is owned and operated by The Shrewsbury Montessori School Corporation, which is a non-profit organization.  As a non-profit, the school belongs to the public and is held in trust by a governing Board of Trustees.  The Board of Trustees is a volunteer board and is governed by the Corporation's by-laws.  Trustees are elected by current members based on collective judgment about each individual's potential contribution to the school.  Board meetings are held monthly and a Board Review for parents and teachers is held each January.

Meletios D. Chacharone ~ President

Mel's son attended Children's House in 2003 through Kindergarten in 2006. His daughter currently attends Children's House at our Shrewsbury campus. Mel is a practicing attorney in Worcester as well as a principal in various real estate development companies. He received a BS in Accounting from Lehigh University and earned his JD from Seton Hall University School of Law. In addition to golf and skiing, Mel enjoys coaching his children's youth sports teams.

Nil Shah serves ~ Treasurer

Nil's daughter currently attends Children's House at our Shrewsbury campus. Nil is an active investor in private companies and is Chief Executive Officer of Verance Corporation. He has a BS in Physics from Yale University and an MBA from Wharton. In addition to ultimate Frisbee, Nil enjoys skiing, golf and squash.

Ron Weeden ~ Secretary

Ron's son attended Shrewsbury Montessori from preschool to first grade. His two daughters currently attend the Children's House at our Auburn Campus. He has a degree in Finance from University of Florida and an MBA from Nichols College. He also serves as President of the Shrewsbury Youth Soccer Association. He is employed by CVS Caremark.

Lisa Cossette ~ Chair of Communications

Lisa's oldest daughter, now in 5th grade, attended Children's House at our Shrewsbury campus until 2003. Her youngest daughter is currently in her 2nd year of Lower Elementary. Lisa has a BS in Computer Science from Northeastern University and has worked for over twenty years in the high-tech industry. She is an independent consultant for website and publication design and likes hiking, landscaping, and volunteering for the Town of Shrewsbury.

J. Michael Deneen ~ Chair of Human Resources

Mike's two daughters are currently enrolled in the Shrewsbury Campus, and his wife, Julie, is an officer on the SMS PTO. Mike is a Founder and Principal of Strategic Benefit Advisors, a firm that advises employers on the most effective ways to maximize the value of their health and welfare benefits. Mike is an avid golfer who enjoys taking piano lessons with his oldest daughter.

Christopher M. Sandusky ~ Chair of Facilities

One of Chris's daughters currently attends Children's House at our Shrewsbury Campus and his other daughter is planning to attend in the Fall of 2008. Chris is an Electrical Engineer and is a Principal and Co-Founder of Integrated Process Technologies, an Inc 500 company, and a Principal in a real estate investment company. He recently received an award for Entrepreneur of the Year for 2007 from the Worcester Business Journal and has been recognized by the Worcester Business Journal as one of the 40 under 40 in the Central Massachusetts region. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Union College. In addition to golf, Chris enjoys coaching his oldest daughters' youth sport team.

Susan Tretter ~ Chair of Development

Sue's two children, currently in their 3rd and 5th years of our Elementary program, have been students at our Shrewsbury campus since 2000. Susan has served in various roles at the school such as room parent, Girl Scout leader, Head of the Playground Fundraising Committee and Vice President of the PTO. Susan has a BA in Communications from Simmons College. In her spare time, Sue enjoys skiing, sewing and bicycling.

Guy Powell

Guy's three grandchildren have attended the Shrewsbury campus. Guy is a practicing CPA in the Worcester area. He received his BBA from Nichols College and his MBA from Suffolk Law. Guy enjoys golf, coaching his three grandsons in both soccer and baseball and those long and lazy summer days when he can take them fishing.
